Excerpt
Olivia stumbled to her feet in mud and debris after her frantic and agonizing ride down the emergency slide. A hand grabbed her arm and steadied her as she landed—it was Maria, the only other surviving flight attendant. Welcome to the bowel of Hell, she thought, staring down at morass, shoes, and body parts. She was bruised and battered; blood seeped from the skin on her belly. Damn! She’d take care of that seat belt wound later. Her behind and calves were on fire from the rapid drop down the hot plastic slide splattered with sweat, blood, and terror. She was without shoes and warm, soft mud seeped through her trembling toes. Dear God, please don’t let there be leeches in this mud—and if you save us from snakes and crocodiles, I promise to praise your name forever, she prayed.
